One of the major complaints with health care in the U.S. today is the lack of transparency, especially in regards to treatment costs. Many times, patients are unaware of what a procedure costs or alternative treatments available. Another issue is when other procedure codes are billed out that are not covered by insurance, and you are billed for the difference, not having known what the costs (or need) for that additional treatment was. Even though I am a practitioner, this bothers me as a patient and a consumer, and I have experienced the same issues. It is frustrating to say the least. If retail stores operated in this manner, they would quickly be out of business.
At Southwest Endodontics, you can phone in and we will give you the exact cost of the procedure, as long as you are aware of the tooth that needs to be treated. No range, no ifs ands or buts. The cost will include all visits, basic imaging and treatment. Occasionally after the initial examination, it is determined that additional imaging or other procedures are needed. We inform the patient of the reason for this, the alternatives and all costs involved PRIOR TO the treatment. We also do our best to maximize your insurance PRIOR TO your visit so that we can give you as close of an estimate as possible what your out of pocket cost will be the day you arrive. This is extremely important to me and my staff and we have worked hard over the last several years to make this process smooth for the patient.
